Paintings of Light & Landscapes

A few months ago I saw some images that had a very ethereal feel to them. Autumn colours filled every inch of the image and with every stroke of colour seemingly painted and blended perfectly to resemble an autumn forest. If you glanced upon these images you would have sworn they were paintings. But alas they were a carefully and well constructed photographic image.

Today I didn’t plan to go out and create images to look like paintings. I simply followed my partner through the mangroves to take some pictures of the trees in the wind and anything else that would catch my eye.  After capturing a couple of okay images and a heap of duds, we decided to move on to our next location. On the way out I had a brainwave and with the images that I had witnessed a few weeks prior popping into my head as inspiration. I stopped, whipped my camera out of my bag, set up and started capturing the colours, light and tress in front of me.
