I have a love for photographing people in art galleries, from the patrons standing and contemplating the artwork to the staff members minding the artworks through out each room.
I love to capture people as natural as possible and I found recently my usual camera is not suitable for art galleries. Every time I pressed the shutter button, the mirror would lift with a clunk followed by a snap of the shutter blades moving aside for the sensor to capture the image. The sounds of a camera taking a picture in a quiet space will always make people feel a tad uncomfortable. So I needed a camera that was silent, and that took a good quality image and that was a reasonable price. I needed a rangefinder camera as they have a leaf shutter thus making them near inaudible. Perfect for photographing in a quiet place.
I found all that I need in a Fujifilm X100s. Some might say that it is a poor mans Leica, but I believe that is near the same quality as the Leica’s and is a about the 10th of the price.
This series is purely photographed on the X100s.
